A word from our CEO:  Simon Emmett  

My priority is to ensure that our teams thrive in an environment of diversity and inclusivity.  A key part of that is nurturing a culture where we all inspire colleagues to learn and develop for a better future.   

My immediate focus is creating a better future for our teams and their families.  Of course, this intent also applies to the vital role our products play in ensuring that the right students are connected to suitable education providers for successful outcomes.   

Our talented teams are increasingly encouraged to take responsibility and work on their own personal development, supported by IDP Connect through better structured development pathways, time, flexibility and trust.  As I say to others and they say to me: #neverstoplearning 

My personal journey with IDP Connect 

Both my parents have been teachers and both my sisters now are. That’s what first attracted me to working in the education sector, though I didn’t think it would last quite this long!  Over many years, I’ve been fortunate to progress from a short-term graduate role to CEO.  It has been tremendous to see the growth of a small start-up in London into a business unit of one of the leading  education organisations in the world.  I moved from the most junior sales role, through sales management, to business unit leadership with strategic and operational responsibilities and then on to become CEO.  Then, after 18 months in the CEO role, in January 2017 we joined IDP Education to accelerate our growth, together building the world’s leading platform and connected community, to support and guide students in achieving their learning goals.

I’ve been fortunate to be given opportunities throughout and worked hard to ensure I was ready for them.  That said, I often made mistakes.  I’m grateful for the support of my managers, peers and expert advisory groups for their patience as I frequently ‘fail forward’.  As an organisation, we aim to create the support structures needed to help employees progress in their careers and reach their full potential.  

Life at IDP Connect

We’re so passionate about making educational dreams come true that as employees, we’re each given a £200 learning allowance every year to spend on any type of learning – we’ve had employees sign up to pottery courses, boxing classes and radio presenting workshops! We celebrate our multi-national diversity through regular learning lunches and food festivities with dishes inspired by countries around the world.

We know how to work hard, but we also know when it’s time to celebrate: from after-work drinks on Fridays and big birthday singalongs, to eagerly awaited office parties and teambuilding away days.  In the office, we have an open-desk policy and support flexi work arrangements. Our aim is to create a sustainable working environment where each employee’s work-life balance is a key priority.

What we can offer you

Accredited training

We know how important your professional development is. so we offer opportunities to add recognised qualifications in your field of expertise and chosen career pathway, whether that’s Digital Marketing, Sales, Technology, Design or another area. We are also an approved Institute of Leadership and Management Centre for training.

Learning and development

When you first start working with IDP Connect, you’ll receive a thorough induction and onboarding process that’s relevant to your role, along with everything from administration procedures to what to do in the event of a fire drill. As you progress, your skillset can be extended through online, external or internal training.

Personal Learning Allowance

We put £200 towards a course or courses of your choice every year. The possibilities for what you could do are endless. We’ve had people learn to paint, study languages, take yoga classes and even learn to perform magic!

Travel loans

We offer all of our employees interest free loans for the purchase of annual travel cards within London. The loan is deducted from your salary over a year, spreading the cost.

Bike to Work scheme

We offer all of our employees the opportunity to participate in the Bike to Work tax-relief scheme, which allows money to be deducted through payroll before tax, so you can end up with a new bike at 40% of the cost.

Complimentary gym membership and Health Cash Plan

Our London office has an on-site gym which is free to join.
We also offer a Health Cash Plan which pays you cash benefits for a range of medical expenses, with a range of discounts offered through the plan.


You’ll have 30 holiday days a year, that’s in addition to the 8 statutory bank holidays.
We close the office for the whole week between Christmas and New Year.


We have a lot going on to celebrate and recognise the exceptional contributions our people make to our growth and success. There are regular employee awards, an annual awards ceremony and an extra week’s pay when you reach 5 year anniversaries. We organise company-wide social events at the end of every month and there’s an ongoing competition through the year with mixed teams from across the business with different challenges to complete.
