As A-level results are published tomorrow, universities across the country are poised for another frantic rush for students. Since the cap on undergraduate places has been released, the competition for student recruitment has moved to another level, and this is particularly intensive during clearing.
In the one week to A-level results, across the Complete University Guide (CUG) and Whatuni.com sites we have already seen over 235,000 visitors to the clearing sections on both sites, with a record day expected tomorrow as students either look to trade up or find an alternative place if their firm or insurance has fallen through.
