Loughborough Uni most popular choice for students on results day

Loughborough University has been selected as a first choice more times than any other university by student users of Whatuni.com.

Whether they got the grades they needed or are about to go through clearing, students up and down the country will soon be finding out which university they’ll be going to. But which one do they WANT to go to? According to students who used Whatuni.com’s Final 5 tool, it’s Loughborough University.

Loughborough University has been the most popular option for the past year amongst the 7,111 students who used the tool to select their top 5 options.  Rounding out the top five are, University of Leeds, University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh and University of Nottingham.

Commenting on their position, Loughborough University Vice Chancellor Professor Robert Allison said: “It is great to see that Loughborough remains the top university choice by students across the country.

“It comes on the back of an incredible year for Loughborough, with top ten rankings in the national league tables and of course our success in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

“Loughborough is a truly unique place with an incredible energy, and the results of the latest Whatuni Final 5 tool are further evidence of this.”

University of Nottingham also proved to be a popular option amongst Whatuni users. Nottingham climbed up one position between January-August to become the favourite insurance choice as well as topping the student’s lists for their 3rd, 4th and 5th choices.

Other changes between January and August included The University of Manchester moving up from fifth to third favourite selection in student’s first choice options and University of Leeds moving up from 4th place to 3rd place for insurance options.

Marcella Collins, the Managing Director UK for the Hotcourses Group, which owns Whatuni.com, said,

“This year we’ve seen a record number of students use the Whatuni final 5 tool to shortlist their top universities. With so many factors influencing university choice, thorough research and peer reviews remain a crucial part of the decision making process, and with Loughborough University recently securing 2nd place in the overall category and 1st for Student Union and Clubs & Societies in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards it’s no surprise they feature as our top destination for students who are seeking the best university experience.”
