TRU World is the international education, training, and development arm of the University.  It is a multi-dimensional, multi-cultural business unit that provides a wide variety of services to an extensive international client base. In existence for almost 40 years, the department has moved from a cost-recovery operation to generating significant net revenues for the university. From its beginnings in the 1970’s, TRU World’s international activities now account for over $34 million in annual contributions to the institution. The department’s operating budget—including all marketing and business development investments—is entirely funded by international revenues. These revenues supported the construction of TRU’s International Building and provide for its ongoing operation.  This state-of-the-art learning facility, located in the heart of the TRU campus, opened its doors in 2005.

TRU now hosts 3500+ international students from over 100 countries and regions on campus. Additionally, approximately 1000 international trainees come to the campus each year for short-term training and visiting student programs.  TRU is a leader in knowledge export, delivering its curricula overseas through joint and accredited programs with institutional partners. TRU currently has approximately 1000 off-shore students studying in China, India and Iceland.  In addition, TRU World has contributed to the internationalization of the campus and projected the institution’s image and reputation around the world.  TRU World is recognized across Canada for its expertise and leadership in international education, training, and development.
